Story of Dharwad Peda and it's recipe

Hello everyone! Today's dessert is something that all the people from Karnataka must have tried and if you haven't, then guys what are you waiting for?

Today's dessert is Dharwad Peda.

This dessert was first made by Ram Ratan Singh Thakur, the first generation confectioner. He had migrated from Uttar Pradesh to Dharwad in Karnataka, in early 19th century.

It is said that he was just experimenting with milk and sugar. The milk used to make these pedas was from Dharwadi Buffaloes raised by Gavali Community in and around Dharwad. In the early days the shop used to sell only half kg to per person and not more then that, as it was very famous in their Era there used to be a huge no. Of people coming and standing in a line outside the shop waiting for whole 2 hours just for this Peda. They did it so that everyone could get some and nobody would be disappointed after standing in the line after such a long time. Later his grandson Babu Singh Thakur started selling this Peda.
